Abortion?

I say abortion- yes! if the pregnancy havent gone too far, so why not? If the baby will become handicaped or have horrible decise , then why not do an abortion? Today you can see such things in the early stages of pregnancy.

RE: Abortion?
Most abortions occur within weeks of the girl or woman (not "mother" yet) finding out she is pregnant. Up to six weeks and sometimes more depending on the pill, you just take a pill to sort of dislodge the clump of cells. I don't see what the fuss is all about. I think the word abortion makes people think of the dead baby pictures and all that... well, folks, most ladies who do not want to carry a clump of cells to term do not wait until their body has already begun changing and getting fat and obvious. But if they do, still I care not. The organism has had no experiences and will not suffer mental anguish. We are ok with killing most other animals whatever their age or intellect for food or just because there are too many of them. Speaking of......THERE ARE WAY TOO MANY PEOPLE ON THE PLANET!! To think that you would have a girl or woman consider adoption first is blatantly disregarding the life changing and severe body changing effects of pregnancy, as well as how the experience would affect her socially and emotionally. It's HUGE. I personally would never create a life and not be responsible for it by trusting others to make a good life for it. It is also much more risky to your health to carry it to term and have it than to just take the abortion pill. One way to look at it is this: a fetus that cannot survive outside of its host is parasitic, living off of it's host and soaking up it's resources. Yet the girl or woman is told to shut up about how she feels about it. But maybe you have been carrying a baby more than half a YEAR and you then decide it isn't right for you (far longer than most wait) and you don't want to produce another consumer running around on the planet. I don't care how many people get all emotional about it, it is not that big of a deal. Try not to let the pro-lifer's techniques get to you. People can't seem to shake the idea of a bloody dead baby being the result every time. It isn't like that for most females, and they deserve full control over their bodies. It would take a strange woman indeed to grow a baby for many months and then decide after her body has already changed and people can tell she's pregnant to decide to abort it. And that is the exact situation people seem to be worried about; the big-sized fetus being MURDERED and grossing everyone out and making angels cry.

RE: Abortion?
IamAwake, your views on abortion are very depressing to me. You've managed to reduce a foetus to a parasite or a clump of cells that is ok to cull?? I've watched the videos of aborted foetuses and I am moved to tears by the site of the little arms, legs, fingers and toes and indeed the whole underdeveloped bodies of these unwanted 'creatures' so I cannot consider this subject without the respect and reverence that, in my heart, I feel it should be treated with. I've watched programmes where women who have had abortions live with what amounts to guilt, or sadness for the life that wasn't to be. They aren't necessarily saying they would not have had the abortion (although some of them seemed to imply this) but they were affected very deeply by the experience. The most compelling story I watched was of a woman in American who survived being aborted. Here is an article about her:

I think in this case the abortion should have never taken place. I would impose a limit such that an abortion is illegal after the foetus can feel pain. After such a time it would be against basic human rights. These measures reflect the current situations of people who are brain-dead and have their life support turned off. It is the same basic principle: If they cannot feel pain or react in a conscious manner, they are not "life".

Living with guilt or sadness is not relevant to the debate however, since these were personal choices made by the women at the time. The debate should be solely about whether foetuses have a right to life, and the answer is simply no. It is the woman's body, the woman's right. Nothing should change that.

I know how you feel. Dead kittens are sad to me. So are dead babies. Things that are usually cute but are dead and gross looking can be quite shocking. I know it is easy to be moved by intentionally moving television programs. but that doesn't give anyone the authority or right to have power over a woman's body. I'm sorry that you are depressed but there is nothing to be depressed about. It is wonderful and amazing when a baby is born. That doesn't mean it is horrible and disgusting not to have one.

RE: Abortion?
I'm for abortion in certain situations, like if the mother is too young or if it is dangerous for the mother, or if it is better for the baby due to a birth defect or something.

But if a lady gets pregnant and then changes her mind, thats no good.

It's attached to a woman. For all intents and purposes, that fetus is part of the woman. Would a moment of suffering be cause enough to contribute to our planets over-population? How about the lifetime of living through a foster system, or coming to terms with being unwanted by your mother?

The world isn't a nice place. Animals suffer every day. Yes, even cute little baby animals. Nature can be torture. Terminating a fetus is not torture, it's a medical procedure. The 'suffering' of a yet-to-be developed human shouldn't be as big of a talking point as it is.

interesting point. I never thought of it that way
