I'll look into the little missive from the former little miss. One of the things I find pretty amazing in this supposedly modern age is the acceptance by women in the Mormon church of their subservient role in pretty much everything, (no priesthood, and therefore no entrance to any serious leadership, and, yes, the church still very much believes in polygamy in heaven. Never have been sure that's still largely about sex or just the practicality of one man having billions of children)

They figure that since the Holy Ghost makes them cry during Fast and Testimony Meeting that their subservient role MUST be true.
The book actually provides some good insight into that very issue of women's subservience, Whitey. It's pretty funny, too.

I don't get women sometimes. About everything else you can't get them to shut up but say "god says" and they willingly subject themselves to any indignity some dickhead in a funny hat thinks up. Girls? WTF is wrong with you?
Not ALL girls.
Well, obviously the atheists are the exception. But why are there not more women atheists?
My wife just admitted that she is an atheist. We can tally her in now

I think there are a lot of factors, but chief among them are that women are taught from birth that it's not "ladylike" to make waves. Many women are comfortable to defer to their husbands or significant others for final decisions, content to have input but not necessarily to have a final say. I've known quite a few women atheists -- but many of them are in the closet. It's just easier for them in their personal situations. I also know a lot of women who are looking for father figures. Where might there be a convenient one of those? Hmmm... Quote:women are taught from birth that it's not "ladylike" to make waves. My wife flunked that course.
Yeah, me, too.
