Just Venting...

RE: Just Venting...
The most curious thing is that they wouldn't blame god if they didn't get the job. They would blame themselves.

Christians really do suffer from battered spouse syndrome.
Even if the open windows of science at first make us shiver after the cozy indoor warmth of traditional humanizing myths, in the end the fresh air brings vigor, and the great spaces have a splendor of their own - Bertrand Russell

Assuming the premises, it would become corruption, as legal standards say. God could be influenced. Nah, god works in misterious ways they shall shriek Big Grin

Other than the absurdity, theistic claims offer nothing else.

Well. Its not just Christians its anyone who puts faith in any man in the sky type gentleman.

And yes. Absolutely right. If you do get the job because of prayer you are doing a job outside of you capabilities you're going to fail anyway.

And personally. I'd want to get a job on my own merit, skill, charisma etc. Not some wink and nod from him upstairs. That's just arse.

Is there a job needing charisma?

Well without charisma job interviews tend to be a tad stale... I've interviewed people who could be described as "charismatically challenged" or "about as interesting as dry shit"

They didn't get the job!

Why are they stale? I mean, it isn't something you could ask about the function to the candidate?

I see no reason to respect, whatever it means. It seems to me that you think charisma > proficiency in a job interview. I, for one think that you should ask the prospected employee about his skills pertaining the job, instead of futile fashion profiles or religious. I know too well how cruel the employment market gets.

If you had two candidates. Both with equal skills, one was much more personable and witty than the other. Then they would likely get the job. Furthermore, charm could take up slack of skills in some cases.

For example if you were interviewing for a customer facing role, person 1 has all the technical skills but no personality. Person 2 has most of the technical skills and an amazing personality. Person 2 would likely get the job.

It is what it is. We employ people who are likeable. Technical skills can only go so far. Furthermore technical skills are far easier to teach or learn than personality changes.

People will never cease to amaze me. Once in a while, people will tell me, I will say a prayer for you. What the hell does that mean? As if they had a better telephone line with god?

Something good happens, most people will say our prayers were answered.
Something bad happens, all you hear are crickets! Well, I will admit that a few people that will say that god is punishing us or some crap like that.

Regardless, I agree with your point.
