With a million I'd just pay off some loans and buy a house. Whatever was left over I'd put in some kind of investment for my daughter's college fund. I would make a charitable donation but it would be relatively small.
With one hundred million its a whole different ball game. I can't think of any scenario where I would need that kind of money so I'd give half of it away without a doubt, and probably a lot more than that.
I think what I would love to do is to wait for one of those telephon marathon things and then call them up right at the end of it and pledge 50 million just to freak them out. It would have to be one aimed at children's charities.
To me, however, 50 million is not readily distinguishable from 100 million. It is still vastly more than I can ever imagine wanting or needing. I reckon I could give about 10 million around the family but the most I can see us ever really spending is about 5-10 million, assuming we live another 30 years or so. I'd therefore give another 30 million away over time.

"I think I use the term “radical” rather loosely, just for emphasis. If you describe yourself as “atheist,” some people will say, “Don’t you mean ‘agnostic’?” I have to reply that I really do mean atheist, I really do not believe that there is a god; in fact, I am convinced that there is not a god (a subtle difference). I see not a shred of evidence to suggest that there is one ... etc., etc. It’s easier to say that I am a radical atheist, just to signal that I really mean it, have thought about it a great deal, and that it’s an opinion I hold seriously." - Douglas Adams (and I echo the sentiment)

My life wouldn't change that much with a million dollars. Money isn't the important part of my life. I've divorced myself from the need of it almost. That said, sailboat, I'd definitely buy a sailboat. Despite that I'm not sure how much money I'd actually give away to an official charity. I think there is a lot of good that you can do without going through official channels.

This is sorely missing the option of "I would give away at least 99% away".
After a few surgeries and a small safety net... I really can't find a use for more than 30,000 USD a year (and that's stretching it hard).
I would maybe buy my parent's setnet business (~700K)... but that's more in the vein of giving them the retirement they've earned and then gifting much of the site's control to an elder brother of mine.

Where sometimes is heard a discouraging word
But the skies are not stormy all day

If I won a million dollars, I would put it in a retirement account. If I won 100 million dollars, I would invest it in business that promotes technology evolution. Charity? If I could find one that didn't squander funds and made the world a better place, not a more populated one, I'd feed it over the years.

I would give a shitload away to my friends. Then I would form my own political party & think tank, send a lot to Israel, pay the upkeep on this forum & get myself a lavish life.

I would invent a repeating gas powered coin throwing gun, move to Canada, and forever spend the rest of my life gunning down strippers with loonies.
