Europe to Monitor Citizens ‘Intolerant’ of Islam

Europe to Monitor Citizens ‘Intolerant’ of Islam
Quote: critics call it an unparalleled threat to free speech. Already in Europe, citizens are prosecuted for 'wrong' opinions about Islam.

While European leaders are busy expressing public indignation over reports of American espionage operations in the European Union, the European Parliament is quietly considering a proposal that calls for the direct surveillance of any EU citizen suspected of being “intolerant.”

Critics say the measure — which seeks to force the national governments of all 28 EU member states to establish “special administrative units” to monitor any individual or group expressing views that the self-appointed guardians of European multiculturalism deem to be “intolerant” — represents an unparalleled threat to free speech in a Europe where citizens are already regularly punished for expressing the “wrong” opinions, especially about Islam.http://churchandstate.org.uk/2013/11/eur...-of-islam/

Know more about the world than I knew yesterday and lessen the suffering of others. You'd be surprised how far that gets you' - Neil deGrasse Tyson

Don't worry about it.

Quote:Tolerance is a two-way street. Members of a group who wish to benefit from tolerance must show it to society at large, as well
as to members of other groups and to dissidents or other members of
their own group
.
(ii)
There is no need to be tolerant to the intolerant.
This is especially important as far as freedom of expression is
concerned: that freedom must not be abused to defame other
groups.

The muslims will never agree to such onerous conditions!

That's scary. I don't believe in intolerance against people just because they're different, but I also don't believe in a totalitarian state dictating to people what to think. I guess the really frightening part is that they haven't fully defined "intolerant." If they mean not illegally discriminating against Muslims or burning down their mosques, I'm fine with that. But if it means rightfully criticizing their religion, then that's a step toward totalitarianism.
Christian apologetics is the art of rolling a dog turd in sugar and selling it as a donut.
