I feel like Peter Gabriel and I have grown up together. When he was lead singer for Genesis, I was in high school. He has always been my personal musical hero, and like me... he has gotten better with age!

I am not sure what that has to do with acapella, but Peter Gabriel is one of my favorites.

I... I... I don't know whether to laugh, cry, or just do both while watching this about 27 more times. This guy is awesome.

Interesting we both picked stuff involving Ben Folds. I just sobbed through that performance. Thank you.

I'm about to watch it again. I have to remember to rehydrate, because the waterworks are about to spring a leak again.

... and not to be a post whore, but I want to mention: I was a music major... a performance/voice major. I've been in many, many groups, bands, choirs, choruses, including a capella ones... of just about every genre. I WISH I had been in one of the quality Delilah possesses. They are breathtaking.

Ok, and not to beat a dead... whatever. I just watched Delilah for about the eighth time.

One of my biggest problems in my music career was that "acting" wasn't an option because dealing with strong emotions when I'm singing is impossible. I truly got into whatever character I was possessing at the time, and that's fine when you're just acting without singing. A few times, I got so into it, I couldn't sing through it. How do these girls do it?

I've gotten so choked up during performances, I haven't been able to finish. My biggest obstacle during my music career was trying to balance acting with the emotions I felt invoking my characters. It's ok when I don't have to sing, in fact, it makes my acting better, but it definitely doesn't make me sing my best. It's a huge conundrum.

I had a boyfriend years ago, who had a toddler cousin, to whom I was very close. The little one died (long story), and I was asked to sing at the funeral. Usually, if I feel attached to a piece of music or the meaning behind it, I can stumble my way through without getting too choked up, but in this case, I lost it before singing a note.

I realize that Delilah singing Bruno Mars isn't quite the same thing, but it was obvious that at least some of those girls were channeling the sentiments, and the fact that they can get through it professionally, but with emotions enough to send me into a sobbing fit, is astonishing and gorgeous.

OK. Sorry for the multi-posts... carry on Blush
