Is Atheism for Me?

RE: Is Atheism for Me?
Apple Dictionary Wrote:shoot | sh oōt| |ʃut| |ʃuːt|
verb ( past shot | sh ät| |ʃɑt| |ʃɒt|)
1 [ trans. ] kill or wound (a person or animal) with a bullet or arrow : he was shot in the leg during an armed robbery | [ trans. ] troops shot dead 29 people.
• [ intrans. ] fire a bullet from a gun or discharge an arrow from a bow : he shot at me twice | the troops were ordered to shoot to kill | [ trans. ] they shot a volley of arrows into the village.
• cause (a gun) to fire.
• [ trans. ] damage or remove (something) with a bullet or missile : Guy, shoot their hats off.
• [ intrans. ] hunt game with a gun : we go to Scotland to shoot every autumn.
• [ intrans. ] ( shoot over) shoot game over (an estate or other area of countryside).
• shoot game in or on (an estate, cover, etc.).
As far as I can tell... aim, pull trigger, and brace have nothing to do with shooting (or shot, which is the bold).

'shoots' was the word I used. 'shot' yes is as defined above, past tense, discharged. 'shoots' is the act of 'shooting'. Doing the shooting. The process of firing the gun. I could also have said *sound of gunshot* which more verbosely says *bang*.

??? The process of firing the gun includes *bang* (meaning the discharge force that makes the *bang* sound), it is not something that occurs after the fact Smile

Aiming, bracing, and pulling the trigger are all irrelevant to the process of shooting... all that is required (more after im home Smile)

*bang* is a sound. *shoots* is shooting someone. I never meant to suggest that *bang* happens after the fact, although the time taken for the sound to reach an observers ear may indeed follow much later than the gun firing and the recipient being shot.

If you don't aim, brace or pull the trigger then what is 'shooting' with a twelve bore? Perhaps you imagined my twelve bore as mind activated??

I have to agree with Min on this one..."Troll Alert"....

This guy/girl, whatever, can no more believe there is not a God, than I can say I believe in the Islamic Faith being the perfect choice of faith.

The one thing that should have gave it away was his quote on..."How much he loved God". I'm sure God talks to you to?? And I mean that in a literal sense...

Ruff, atheism isn't about being cool, although I have to admit that most of us are Tongue It is a choice you have to make yourself after you've done your research.

If you're happy with Christianity and you love Jesus then I would suggest you not joining the "cool gang"!

No offense ruff-n-tuff but it appears you have no idea what being an Atheist is or even it's definition. I'm unsure weather to even take your question seriously. You are not an Atheist and you don't "try Athesim out". I would respectfully suggest you search inside yourself for what you believe to be logical and rational and you will have your answer. You claim to believe in god and love god so you are not an Athesist, you can not have both.

Lol ^_^ The others got the thread back on track ^_^ And here I am, continuing my weird little discussion with fr0d0 Devil

All that is required to "shoot" is to project either single or multiple projectiles at high velocity through a controlled explosion.

So say that a gun discharges evidently by itself, and the projectile hit you. Wouldn't you say you just got shot? Therefore, aiming is not required to shoot; bracing ones' self for the shot is not required to shoot; and if the gun is triggered without pulling the hair trigger: then that is irrelevant as well. Shooting a twelve bore only requires that the explosion triggered something to project from the firearm.

I agree to the sound point though Smile

RE: Is Atheism for Me?
There are groups of people who cycle through religions like commodities. They neither "choose a side" or stay in the grasp of one for long. Like locusts, they live only to experience something desirable that said religion may confer before trying out another like ice cream at a store. These same people also cycle through diet fads, cults, crazes like pyramid power, holistic medicine, etc,.

Atheism is a lack of belief. It is best paired with critical thought, else it devolves to yet another mindless "religion" or ideology. Travel not the paths of serial ideological and religious forays - try exploring yourself instead of letting the religion or ideology in question do it for you.
