Except that "god" isn't and wasn't a name, any more than "thought" or "dream", it's a description of a concept.

All that happened is that the church chose to ignore the rules of grammar when referring to their central concept in what can only be described as an act of arrogance.

In a similar vein they attempted to redefine the word "christian" as meaning "good" during the 19th century.

I absolutely refuse to capitalize "he," "him," or "his" when referring to God or any gods. I've always thought it was stupid, even back when I was religious.

Like you, I'll capitalize proper names, not any old personal pronoun.

I'll generally refer to angry desert god #1 as 'your god' or Jehovah. Incidentally, that halibut was delicious.

What "lies" are you talking about? Faith? Hope? Love? Peace?

How about respecting the "people of God", whose own concept of your so called "lies" makes them help and love others?

Or, would you rather nitpick as many of the small-minded do, to justify your own ignorance?

How about you seek psychological help, because ancient fairy tales should not act as a substitute for human empathy and a conscience (and in the case of way too many Christians, it clearly doesn't work at all).
