On a related note, people who still use the 12 hour clock... What are you doing? There are 24 hours in a day, why the fuck would you go back to 1 half way in???
I think the bigger problem with our 12 hour clock is that it starts at 12, not 1. How stupid.
Chas has it right; the major problem is good ol' American exceptionalism.

I can't be expected to learn all this stuff, I'm old.
You'll have a harder time adjusting to metric volumes and lengths than you will the 24 hour clock. You just add or subtract 12 to convert time. Try doing that while you're still here, make it a habit.

I know I was joking.. My grandpa taught me "military time" long ago. I've been doing it for funsies for years
If I were to create self aware beings knowing fully what they would do in their lifetimes, I sure wouldn't create a HELL for the majority of them to live in infinitely! That's not Love, that's sadistic. Therefore a truly loving god does not exist!
Quote:The sin is against an infinite being (God) unforgiven infinitely, therefore the punishment is infinite.
Dead wrong. The actions of a finite being measured against an infinite one are infinitesimal and therefore merit infinitesimal punishment.
Quote:Some people deserve hell.
I say again: No exceptions. Punishment should be equal to the crime, not in excess of it. As soon as the punishment is greater than the crime, the punisher is in the wrong.

Jesus fuck, will you please allow us to get rid of god first?
Seriously, I'm fine with it. People should know this was all the rage when I was a kid in the 70s. The NFL would never go for it though.

Calm yer tits girl.
Oz still uses the 12 hour system in most cases.

I figured you'd be the only one.

Shouldn't you have said "I'm too old to learn that evil atheistic Christ denyin' commie shit."? I have never heard an American describe it otherwise. Or is it, being even older than you, that I have just forgotten the many Americans that do??

Canada switched over with hardly a problem. The U.S. is just being its usual parochial, ignorant self.
Having spent a great deal of time south of the border, and a bit less to the north, I can say that making the adjustment is not really very difficult at all.
The metric system is far superior and more intuitive and it's beyond stupid that we stick with such an antiquated system.
In other words, we are in violent agreement.

In a perfect world, yes, but I work in manufacturing, and it would be an absolute pain in the ass. Sure, the conversion factors I have to use can be a bitch, but it's far simpler than switching over the whole process to metric.
Chas pointed out that Canada switched with little trouble, but Canada doesn't have the manufacturing that we do.

Seriously? Canada has the same kinds of manufacturing. There are more companies in the U.S., but it's every man for himself regardless of how many.
