If I were to create self aware beings knowing fully what they would do in their lifetimes, I sure wouldn't create a HELL for the majority of them to live in infinitely! That's not Love, that's sadistic. Therefore a truly loving god does not exist!

Quote:The sin is against an infinite being (God) unforgiven infinitely, therefore the punishment is infinite.

Dead wrong.  The actions of a finite being measured against an infinite one are infinitesimal and therefore merit infinitesimal punishment.

Quote:Some people deserve hell.

I say again:  No exceptions.  Punishment should be equal to the crime, not in excess of it.  As soon as the punishment is greater than the crime, the punisher is in the wrong.

Lolita (n): Intensely dreary novel written by Vladimir Nabokov, source of one decent song, and a host of execrable films.

It's probably one of the best novels of all time, in my opinion. Nabokov is certainly a great writer and it's a shame that his other books don't get much attention.

To be fair, neither film version is totally true to the original novel, but, seriously, given the heights of the original novel, and, you know, the content, it would be very surprising if it wound up being so. It's very rare that a truly great novel is adapted into an truly great film, especially if it's true to the original novel. And that's the truth!

Also, it's pronounced na-BOH-kov. I had a writing teacher from Serbia who insisted on pronouncing it correctly.

Everyone is entitled to an opinion. Some of us are so entitled, we even get a 'Fuck You' for expressing that opinion.

Well, you know. Fuck You.

Quote:To be fair, neither film version is totally true to the original novel,

No film ever is. Fuck You.

Quote:but, seriously, given the heights of the original novel, and, you know, the content, it would be very surprising if it wound up being so.

You're correct, that would be very surprising. Fuck You.

Quote:It's very rare that a truly great novel is adapted into an truly great film, especially if it's true to the original novel. And that's the truth!

Perfectly true. Fuck You.

Quote:Also, it's pronounced na-BOH-kov.

Good point. Quite a lot of non-English names suffer at the hands of native English speakers. Fuck You.

Quote:I had a writing teacher from Serbia who insisted on pronouncing it correctly.

I'm curious - was your writing teacher published at all (other than self-published)? It seems that most people who teach creative writing do so because they aren't good enough to make it as real writers. Fuck You.

And - while I'm at it - Fuck Lolita, Fuck NAHbokov, Fuck Serbian writing teachers, and Fuck You And Anyone Who Looks Like You.

Hugs and kisses,

Boru
