I use a knife to cut mine. I like the cut to be kinda rough because once they're toasted they're so much tastier when the surface isn't smooth. You know what I mean?
Now I'm wishing I had bought some when I was in Sainsbury's doing some shopping earlier...
Not crumpets, no. But I think I read somewhere that English Muffins were invented (do people "invent" foods? Oh well, I've said it now) by accident by an American attempting to make crumpets.
Anyway, muffins are bready things that are delicious toasted (and can be used to make yummy little pizzas). Have you ever had a McMuffin from the McDonald's breakfast menu? Those are English Muffins. You can also buy them from most supermarkets, they're usually next to the crumpets.
