Did anyone else follow this show?

I absolutely loved it. I followed it for years, and I'm really sad to see it go. I loved the evolution of Deb's character.

I know the series had to end due to the story becoming repetitive, but it still saddens me. RIP Sad

I like the show but hated the ending though. Then again, shows like these hardly have good and happy endings.

Everyone jumped on the bandwagon of hating the ending. I thought it was appropriate. If it would have been

it would have been completely unbelievable. The only other ending that would have been insane is

, or if

. But those really wouldn't have gone along with the theme of the evolution of his character in my opinion. I think they did what they had to do.

Dexter was great. Definitely hyper-reality but, still totally watchable and lots of twisted fun.
I miss it too.

I actually rather liked the ending. I thought it felt very fitting. He had to let his son go with his girlfriend because he finally figured out that no matter what he tries, he destroys peoples lives. Debra was the exclamation point to that epiphany.

Plus, they could someday return to doing a movie of the week or something since he's still alive. (very doubtful, but it has happened)

That would be great. I just thought the whole show worked well. With only 12 episodes a season, I never felt like I was watching an irrelevant episode. I was a huge fan of Lost, but often times in the middle of a long season I felt like I was seeing episode that I could have missed and it wouldn't have been that important to try to catch it up.

RE: Dexter
I loved season 1 Dexter.

I stopped watching at the end of S4... I was pretty much watching season 2, 3, and 4 entirely for Rita. Someone I can connect with, y'know? Also... I don't like my sociopaths tainted with petty emotion... 'normalizing' him was a mistake, IMO.

I was never a big fan of Rita. She was mousy and weak, the suddenly turned into a huge pain in the ass wife. Her character was terrible IMO.

Where you saw weakness, I saw great strength. So far as wives go? Most anyone would be lucky to have a wife so wonderful as Rita.

Eh, I thought she was kinda overbearing and clingy at the end. Of course, we're trained as a viewing audience to be on Dexter's side, and she was really getting in his way with the trinity killer. Probably why I felt that way.

Can we exactly blame her for being a little clingy? I can't. As for overbearing: she was becoming quite fed up with Dexter. We were trained as such? I didn't get the memo.

Dexter's fascination with the trinity killer just made me want to punch him. Repeatedly.
