His argument was exactly the same as yours for Christianity, and you rejected it. That's the point.

But I trust my parents, I don't even know him.

Sigh, I just don't know though. I guess what I've seen from my parents is impossible to explain, but they are the whole reason I believe.

Does trust determine truthfulness? If your parents told you the sky is lime green, does that make it true? Would you even believe them, or would you go outside and see the evidence, and summarily reject their claim?

That's what's important here: information stands and falls on its own merit, not who the source of it happens to be.

The thing is no matter the evidence, there's always a way around for religion.

And that, my friend, is what we call a con game. You can see it in some other threads here, the lengths people will go, the atrocities they will endorse, just to keep from having to admit that the bible was wrong.

It's the hallmark of someone who isn't interested in the truth, just keeping what they want to believe safe from interference. We've got people here who'll argue that slavery is okay, because of that.

yep, you and lots of other folk around the world believe because of their parents and the implicit trust they have.
And those don't necessarily believe the same thing in which you do... it works just as well for any religion.

Yes, yes, yes - and you've told us they never lie.

So, they didn't ever tell you that Santa Claus is real?
