If there is no astral trip what's the point? It's not like she can fly around seeing what is actually happening in the room outside of the body.

You would think so but then again, to play devil's advocate, if someone is on the verge of death, do you really think performing all the different necessary brain scans or testing for a NDE will be a top priority?

This experiment is already being conducted. The put a high shelf in the Er room with a highly memorable picture. The staff doesn't need to do anything. Its just there in the off chance that someone has an NDE in that room. NDEs are rare and many times go unreported. So don't hold you breath.
