That said, atheism and communism have nothing whatsoever to do with one another. One is in the sphere of the political, the other is the lack of belief in a deity or deities.

Oh, sorry, "comrade"

I guess the way to describe the communism I'm talking about is marxism,(Lenin, Joseph Stalin) Soviet Union, China, North Korea, Cuba, etc.

One doesn't have to be Christian or accept Jesus to believe the Soviet Union was destroyed by god btw. Christians dont have a monopoly on genocidal gods.

It was your name and the picture of Jesus.

You believe in God?

Sorry, I forgot what my name and avatar was when I posted earlier. Jesus wept is a mild expletive where I come from, compared to your name at leastSmile, so I thought the name was appropriate for an atheist forum.

And to answer your question. No I don't believe in god.

I like boobs though and whatever is responsible for them is my higher power. Natural selection? the Mysterious thing behind evolution? The energy behind the big bang? Whatever causes people to be altruistic?

Whatever the Hell it is. To me that is God. That something that is responsible for what is beautiful. My hat goes off to that flying spaghetti monster/son of a Bitch!

If people want to form a commune, share their resources... then they should be free to go nuts (see what I did there).

But they always seem to need the involvement of the non commies, so much so that they are willing to coerce us through threats of violence. I'll have no part of it. And if they want my stuff? Molon labe bitches.
Nemo me impune lacessit.

Very few of those states operate a form of communism that would be recognizable to each other. Communism doesn't simply equate to 'Marxism'. Lenninism and Stalinism were vastly different to the philosophy envisioned in the CM by Marx and Engels. I'm also fairly sure that Marx would turn in his grave if he could see the misery that the Kim dynasty has caused to the people of Korea.

But no wukkas Smile I personally am not a communist as I believe it to be too unrealistically utopian. Maybe one day man could live in harmony like that, but then it would be indistinguishable to any other form of politics.

I'm not a communist, but I wouldn't claim I'm a die hard capitalist either. The examples of communism given in this thread are all extreme examples, but I can't think of any moderate examples to give so.... It seems to be an all or nothing sort of ideology. Personally I enjoy democratic socialism which has some 'communistic' tendencies, but doesn't rely on a utopian paradise to survive Tongue

I hate Capitalism. I only like Communism as it is theoretically not as it has been exercised.

Communists have killed more people than the Nazi's or any other form of Government that I know of.

My ideal form of government is a democracy that takes economic ideas from both capitalism and socialism.

Capitalism in its purest form is a slave system where the corporate owners pretty much own the "wage slaves". Socialism in its purest form is a slave system where the government owns the workers. That's why I think the ideal is somewhere in between, where the competing forces of government, business, unions to represent the workers, etc are competing against each other for power. That competition is good overall, and provides the checks and balances needed to keep things fair.

In theory, we're close to having this type of economic system in the United States, but it's still slanted heavily in the direction of capitalism over socialism. That's why I support "liberal" changes such as raising the minimum wage to a living wage, better protections for workers and consumers, etc that limit the power of corporations. But if we ever move too far in the direction of true socialism, then we'll need to balance it back the other way. I don't see that happening any time soon, though.

Do you wish we would have crossed the DMZ and turned Vietnam into a Democratic Country?
