I think most guys can detect if a girl isn't interested. Sometimes they can be standoffish if they are interested due to being threatened and the emotional torture of being in love.

Buffy's my all time favorite TV show, and I've just been rewatching it lately. There was an early episode where a demon took over the internet and tricked one of Buffy's friends by talking to her online and pretending to be a normal person, so TC's joke really reminded me of that.
