Personally I think the baby makes it less likely that Hillary runs.

Why? It's Chelsea's baby, not hers.

I don't think the fact Hilary would be a grandmother would help her much in a general election. Prevailing social prejudices probably won't reward her for acquiring the trappings of being old.

It's not to highlight her age, nice family stuff is always politicized by politicians and Hilary is no different. I've got a CNN app on my phone where I check the news, and at one point Chelsea being pregnant was the featured article under their "Top Articles" section. Why? When have I ever cared about Chelsea Clinton ever? When have I ever really cared about any politician's kid? Plus Chelsea campaigned for her mother in 2008, it's not entirely out of the question that she would make her pregnancy a public show to help her mother out. Think about it there's 100 senators and 400-something house representatives, and most of them (almost all) have kids. When's the last time that one of their kids got this much media attention for being pregnant (or have a spouse that's pregnant)? Unless I'm forgetting anyone, I think the last time was with Bristol Palin.

Sarah Palin can escape the consequences because she is a big haired floosy. Hilary Clinton is a Weslean who went to Yale.

Americans tend to adore those who aspire towards being as dumb as they are, and are blase towards their fault. But Americans also tend to be vindictive towards those who demonstrate it is quite possible to be smarter, more educated and cultured, and better than they are, and would magnify each fault they see.

I'm pretty sure she gets as much attention as she does because of her father, not her mother.

What are you talking about, Palin got a lot of flak for having a child that was pregnant out of wedlock from both liberals and conservatives.

This is why liberals are called elitists.

Yeah, but I don't think it hurt Palin with her hick and floosy constituency.

The alternative to elitist - where the elite do not hesitate to point out where the masses can improve - would be populist, where the elite defraud the masses by telling the masses, ultimately at the expense of the masses, that the mediocrity of the masses is nothing short of perfection.

Being president means she has less time to be mom and grandma.

How come having less time to be pa and grandpa is never an issue?

And yet, we didn't say the same thing about Obama and he's a father.
