How come having less time to be pa and grandpa is never an issue?

Its a personal issue not a political one. She might decide that she has reached a point in her life where she wants to stop working and just be a mom/grandma.

Given her ambition, I doubt it.

That doesn't answer the question, Heywood. In fact, it calls for the question to be asked again.

Ambition fades with age.

I think idea of the baby having no impact on her decision to run is a bit ludicrous. What is more likely is the baby either gives her more cause to run or less cause to run. My gut feeling is she is thinking about how nice it might be just to be a grandma(in addition to thinking how nice it might be to president).

That may be, but how come we never hear of anyone saying this about male candidates? How come we never hear anyone say, "My gut feeling is that he is thinking about how nice it might be just to be a father/grandfather"?

With some people, ambition sharpens with age.

Listen to her commencement speech at Wesley. She is one focused, driven and ambitious individual, I think she is sure of herself, unlikely to reflect on whether what she has wanted is right, unless she is overwhelmingly prevented from attaining it. I think her overall ideological outlook is unlikely to change in her life time.

I think for someone like her, she no doubt thinks being the best grandma she could possibly be means her grand children can say their grand mother is:

1. the president of the United States

2. is in a position to further advocate the ideologies she has held since her own Wesley days.

This is why liberals are called elitists.

Yeah, but I don't think it hurt Palin with her hick and floosy constituency.

BTW, It is much better to be elitist than to be mediocrist, it is also better to drive the medicre to acquire a little of what is good about the elite, than it is for the elite to pander to, and thereby further dumb down, the mediocre.

It absolutely hurt her. Part of her base are people that believe in purity rings and the sanctity of marriage. And I can't tell you how many times I heard people say (liberals included) that if she couldn't control her daughter how was she going to control the presidency if McCain died?

And besides, pandering is exactly what Hilary's doing with her daughter's pregnancy. What grand moral/philosophical issue is Chelsea's pregnancy going to solve? Nothing. All it is, is a way for Hilary to seem more relatable to her constituents. This is literally a pandering tactic. Just like Hillary meme photo that relates her to younger people. Same with the Bill Clinton meme photo, which is a call back to Hillary's photo. It's all just pandering.

What people say is not the same thing as what Hillary is thinking. Look, I'm not saying she shouldn't run because she is an old grandma. I am saying Chelsea's pregnancy is something else for Hillary to consider. Who knows, maybe Chelsea's pregnancy turns out to be the impetus that swings Hillary's decision to that of run(if she was on the fence). In my experience however, when people become grandparents, they start to look forward to retirement more which is why I think it makes it less likely she runs.

If I had to bet, I bet she runs. However my confidence in that bet took a hit when Chelsea announced she was pregnant.
