People like you, OP, are the reason why we can't have nice things.

PETA and a lot of other pro-vegan groups tend to have some seriously misguided ideas going. You should hear them talk about milk; even though it's one of the healthiest foods for humans, they're firmly convinced it's toxic and nobody is ment to drink it. As for meat itself, yes, absolutely, we were intended to eat meat. Look at our digestive track and our teeth. They wouldn't be designed that way if we weren't intended to eat meat. When you consider that the brain is mosty fatty tissue, meat also played a huge role in humanities intellectual evolvement.

But the worst part of all is what happens when they push veganism onto their pets. I can't count how many stories I hear that go the same way: vegan family forces their pet to take on a vegan diet and the pet gets sick (sometimes dies). Here's one, for example: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/07/24...44213.html

Bottom line: get away from PETA and learn real nutrition.

I'm all for animal rights, but there is also the subject of our species' evolution as a species that has evolved to bind the fate of certain animals with our own. In truth, its a very well going relationship, we're ensuring eachother's survival.
The cows and other domestic animals depend upon us for protection and feed, whereas we depend on them for food aswell, and a number of other side or main products.
As I said, I'm all for improving their living(and death) conditions.

I love cats. Eat my cat and I'll Hannibal Lector the next person I see. Other than that I don't care.

I love veggies more than meat, but you gotta have a little meat to add to the flavor. When I die I would happily donate my body to be eaten if I could. If humans tasted good I would be all about eating them after they died.

Well, we usually have a balanced diet of both vegetables and meat, though here, eating meat is a sign of richness.
Also, eating meat is a way of determining someone's mettle.
It is said that our ancestors could devour a whole sheep in one sitting after a heavy day of work, fighting or wrestling.

Those animals owe their lives to your meat eating. Would you rather have them not exist?

An apt reply.

We poison insects while producing crops, and grass fed cattle don't entail extra crop production.

1 cow = lots and lots of steak

You can season other things to taste like meat. Smile

The problem with milk is getting too much calcium. Milk has been linked with prostate cancer, and so have calcium supplements.

Sentient? If this can be proven, I might give it some actual thought and consider changing my eating habits.

For now, I'm eating upwards of 250 grams of protein a day. Omnomming all of teh chickenz and bief!

I definitely love animals.

Bacon is an animal... right?
"Well, evolution is a theory. It is also a fact. And facts and theories are different things, not rungs in a hierarchy of increasing certainty. Facts are the world's data. Theories are structures of ideas that explain and interpret facts. Facts don't go away when scientists debate rival theories to explain them. Einstein's theory of gravitation replaced Newton's in this century, but apples didn't suspend themselves in midair, pending the outcome. And humans evolved from ape- like ancestors whether they did so by Darwin's proposed mechanism or by some other yet to be discovered."
