I think the donut burger (with a fried egg and bacon) was originally a Paula Dean idea.

And yes, a still warm from the fryer Krispy Kreme plain glazed donut is something everyone needs to try at least once.

There's a bakery in my town called Burke's that puts Krispy Kreme to utter shame.

This is not good for you, America! It contains shitloads of carbs combined with fat.
Tasty? Yes. Healthy? no.

Krispy Exkrement is more like it.

Shut up, Sven! Occasionally having tasty things is just as important as usually having healthy things. :(

Flavorless and over-sweet. Over-priced, as well.

Best donut I ever had was from a place called Lone Star in Round Rock Texas. No idea if it is still around, but my mom use to drop me off there daily before school. Damn good. Damn good way to put on a lot of weight too. Took me a few years to work that sugar sweetness off though.

Krispy Kreme, while fantastic, doesn't hold a candle to the old mom & pops that have been around forever. In TN, there is a place called Shipley's that has the best glazed donuts I have ever had. I am pretty sure they lace the glaze with crack. I have to get rid of all the evidence when I go there. I have some body dysmorphia issues, and m'lady tells me I look fat when she finds out I go there, which sets that off.
