RE: Science Porn
Or.. sound waves did it. Wink

If I were to create self aware beings knowing fully what they would do in their lifetimes, I sure wouldn't create a HELL for the majority of them to live in infinitely! That's not Love, that's sadistic. Therefore a truly loving god does not exist!

Quote:The sin is against an infinite being (God) unforgiven infinitely, therefore the punishment is infinite.

Dead wrong.  The actions of a finite being measured against an infinite one are infinitesimal and therefore merit infinitesimal punishment.

Quote:Some people deserve hell.

I say again:  No exceptions.  Punishment should be equal to the crime, not in excess of it.  As soon as the punishment is greater than the crime, the punisher is in the wrong.

We are nearing the end of the Cassini mission at Saturn and I have recently found out Hubble may be able to watch the burn up in Saturn's upper atmosphere.

Sad the mission is over, but a well earned blaze of glory perhaps . . . .

If Hubble can resolve an object a few tons in mass burning up in saturn's atmosphere, I am surprised we haven't seen more images of natural meteors burning up in saturn's atmosphere, I would imagine objects comparable to Cassini in mass would enter saturn's atmosphere fairly often.

the trick is knowing beforehand when its going to happen

I'm itching for someone to stick it on the side of a satellite, fire it into space, and see if it works "the old fashioned way" by making the satellite move.

From what little reading I have done, the thrust is picoscopic...i.e., micro-microscopic. But it's in the early stages of the technology, and improvements may be made. Claims of getting to the moon in four days are pie-in-the-sky at this point.
If you get to thinking you’re a person of some influence, try ordering somebody else’s dog around.

That article was published in 2015. Since no nobel prize has been awarded for such a fundamental and easily verified over turning of basic precepts of physics, I will go out on a limb and say it has not proven to work.

I'll check, but at this late date, I'm not even sure a VASIMIR has been tested in space either.

Didn't find anything about VASIMIR being tested in space yet.

Until someone gets either of these technologies in space and actually moves something with them, I can't see how they can be characterized as successful . . . .
