Science Porn
RE: Science Porn

APOD Wrote:Yesterday, the Sun exhibited one of the longest filaments ever recorded. It may still be there today. Visible as the dark streak just below the center in the featured image, the enormous filament extended across the face of the Sun a distance even longer than the Sun's radius -- over 700,000 kilometers. A filament is actually hot gas held aloft by the Sun's magnetic field, so that viewed from the side it would appear as a raised prominence. The featured image shows the filament in light emitted by hydrogen and therefore highlights the Sun's chromosphere. Sun-following telescopes including NASA's Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO) are tracking this unusual feature, with SDO yesterday recording a spiraling magnetic field engulfing it. Since filaments typically last only from hours to days, parts of this one may collapse or erupt at any time, either returning hot plasma back to the Sun or expelling it into the Solar System. Is the filament still there? You can check by clicking on SDO's current solar image.
"There remain four irreducible objections to religious faith: that it wholly misrepresents the origins of man and the cosmos, that because of this original error it manages to combine the maximum servility with the maximum of solipsism, that it is both the result and the cause of dangerous sexual repression, and that it is ultimately grounded on wish-thinking." ~Christopher Hitchens, god is not Great

On a related note, SDO released this composite video of 5 years of data---200 million images---which is nothing short of mesmerizing.

Here's a page with a bunch of gifs of math in action. I don't know how to post just the gifs so here's the link: http://www.iflscience.com/brain/math-gif...r-ever-did
The last two are pretty awesome.
I can't remember where this verse is from, I think it got removed from canon:

"I don't hang around with mostly men because I'm gay. It's because men are better than women. Better trained, better equipped...better. Just better! I'm not gay."

For context, this is the previous verse:

Critical reviews of God Part of the Brain (on theory that faith in God evolved as a survival mechanism)

If the concept is like an instant dose of fantastical porn, then these reviews may serve as foreplay, either
triggering excitement or disappointment in not getting the real thing.

Me too, Steel. We moved a few months ago, and we ended up putting a love seat in the basement instead of my daughters room, as I intended. This gif has me thinking about giving it another shot.

Haha Well, if you can pass a straight bar through an extremely bowed hole, I should be able to get that couch into my daughters room.
