It wasn't a pleasant experience for either of us.

I was in the SUV with NOTHING to hasten the inevitable demise of the poor stupid thing and alleviate it's suffering. The circumstances of me hitting it were annoying, I was slowly and carefully driving around a flock of the darn things to my right and while watching them, one pops out from the left and ducked it's head down just in time to get the drivers front end up side the head.

I'm not a vet, but my estimation was it was briefly knocked out from the impact, and with sufficient spinal trauma in the neck to cause death in about 5 minutes. It spent most of the time flopping on the pavement trying to get away ineffectively.

FWIW, the carcass was re-purposed (but not at my house, ick!, I don't like venison) and I'm sure the family that got here appreciated the windfall.

I had over $3000 damage, and amazing to me, it was BARELY noticeable.
