I'm working on integrating http://stopforumspam.com into the site.

I incorporated just that api system over at Kyu's and it worked beautifully, catching and logging two known spammers within a few hours. I even edited the postbit so that you could report a spammer and update their database and automatically ban the user at the same time.

A beautifully crafted piece of php and java code and, as a programmer, I know that you can appreciate the beauty of code. And all Kyu can do is complain that it's banning members for, as he sees it, no good reason.

Well, I removed the whole lot now, so if he wants a forum full of spammers, spambot, idiots and dave mabus, he's welcome to it.

Either tomorrow or at the weekend I'll write a php file that checks a uid against the SFS database (username, email and ip) and then if it finds a match, it bans them. And I'll add the option to send member info to the database as well.

Then you can do what you like with it.

And this time I'll remember the golder rule, and back it up.
