Traitor!

Traitor!
A democratic Virginia state senator was bribed by the GOP members of the state's senate into blocking a bill expanding and financing medicaid.

In my home state. A state that once was known for having perhaps the most civil, nonpartisan, equally-divided political atmosphere. Now bribery is becoming a thing; the GOP is instigating it, and a democrat literally sold out.

I hope his fucking house burns to the ground and his insurance refuses to cover it.

Enjoy your cushy cancer-stick job and effectively losing all respect from just about everyone in the state!

Shithead.

Bribery has always been "a thing." Now it is merely more obvious.

In America, corruption is so interwoven into the democratic process that it's not even hidden and anyone who doesn't play along is going to get buried by it. Representatives are bought and sold on the open market though bribes that are called "campaign contributions". Money officially counts more than popularity, as America is officially no longer a democracy but an oligarchy.

In America, political ethics and campaign finance laws (the latter of which are being rapidly stripped away by a corporate controlled Supreme Court) try to make a distinction between good corruption and bad corruption. It's no secret that moneyed interests have a lock on the political process. It's all done out in the open, right before our eyes.

The only solution to this problem is to ban all form of paid political advertisement, replacing them with frequent debates conducted under oath, where lying to the American people is punishable by perjury charges.

We might consider hanging a couple of the bribers and bribees just to teach the rest of the fucks a lesson.

It might sink in for a while.

What shocks me is that you seemed surprised at this, Creed.

Corruption is the name of the game here in America, and any sense of democratic control we the people feel is an illusion.
Even if the open windows of science at first make us shiver after the cozy indoor warmth of traditional humanizing myths, in the end the fresh air brings vigor, and the great spaces have a splendor of their own - Bertrand Russell

The thing is: If you try to pay a cop out of a ticket, you are corrupt. If you are giving milions to politicians, you are lobbying.

Nothing is greater than human greed. Not even their imagined god.

In case you haven't been hearing about it, Creed, we've been busting one or two senators per month since Jan.

It's kind of surreal, having a major political party driven almost entirely by spite.

As with a lot of things, there's something about "going big" that sanitizes.

Bought and paid for politician is bought and paid for.

Big surprise.

Just who did you think his master was? The people?
