If a god existed then it should show itself and not hide in a hole like a scared little rabbit. In John 7:4 it says that if one wants to be known then he doesn't go around doing things in secret. So if a god exists then it should show itself to the world. So: no show = no existence.

I would never accept the bible as an authoritative source for either proving or disproving anything about gods.

Personally I don't find the task of disproving god at all promising. I cannot conceive of any shared premises potent enough around which to build an argument powerful enough to liberate those who believe in gods. Belief is not based on logic all the way down.

It's just that stuff after that smells strongly of "political promises.

I guess it does depend on what definition of god you're using. I am of the mind that the christian god, and other gods that have been thought to 'dabble in human affairs' could be debunked.

The god most Christians talk about in church or in private could be debunked pretty easily.

The god they turn him into when they realize they're talking to a skeptic becomes pointlessly vague and distant so as to be nonfalsifiable. Of course, there's not much point to worshiping that god either, but don't worry: he changes back when the skeptics go away.
