I read that she was originally meant to be an antagonist. I'm not sure if she was always going to be Hiccup's mother.

I'm not sure if I liked it better than the first or not. It was definitely cool, though Valka comes off as irresponsible, and I don't like what happened to Stoik.

Good video to watch, if you want to know how common the Jesus story really is.

Well, since that spoiler's now out in the open... Tongue

I got the feeling her actual identity was supposed to be a much bigger deal, revealed toward the end of a movie in which she played a much greater role as co-antagonist with Drago, which was the original plan for the movie. Early trailers kinda spoiled that twist though, so I wonder how much rewriting happened as a result of that, instead of during the scriptwriting phase.

Much as I liked it, I think the original plan would've made for a smoother movie all round, really.

Yeah, if you haven't seen the trailers, spoiler alert! Hiccup's mom is alive.

That's what I get for reading a thread about a movie I haven't seen yet... Oh, well, maybe I'll forget about this by the time I get around to seeing it...

Speaking of, I think I have a gift card to Regal Cinemas... must check into that...

I took my daughter to see this last week. It was good fun. I'll have to see the first one now.

I have to say, there may be other movies I liked better (not sure what though) but this is definitely shaping up to be my favorite series of all time. I just hope the two-year run-up to the next one is long enough to provide a good movie. If it turns into Dreamworks throwing crap at the wall hoping it sticks because of the familiar theme (like the "Shrek" sequels) I'm going to be seriously fucking pissed off. They "seem" to have learned their lesson. Time will tell.
