I have never ever seen any discernible differences in morality between believers and non believers.
Whether there is a god or not is irrelevant in this argument. Those who believe "should" act better but they don't.

At least being an atheist, I can at least be arrogant and an arsehole for "real" reasons.
(At the very least I don't think I'm bad if being judged by others is the criteria).

I went to church with my mother and listened to the sermon of the day - I can't remember exactly what it was about - and suddenly I thought, "This is nonsense!"

It took me another few years to finally kick the habit, simply because I didn't want to disappoint my mother.
