Religion is the problem, not atheism.

Read an article in USA Today that in the US, atheists are as distrusted as rapists. I'll post the link later.

Where do they get their facts? Sad

Sorry to ramble. I just needed to come to a place where you all GET IT.

Thanks for letting me vent! <3

Come and live in the UK, experience a truly accepting society for atheists.

MM

On my way!

In all seriousness, I wonder why that is, though? Wasn't the UK once built on 'Christian principles?'

You're all so awesome, thank you for letting me vent! This place is a second home, at times.

Here's the article link I was talking about. It's not real recent, and frankly, it seems flawed, as many studies are...but, still...the results are the results.

Is the general public this obtuse?

Meanwhile, back at the ranch...prisons are stuffed with far more self-proclaimed Christians (not ''born again'' after they were convicted but before they went to prison) than atheists.
Oh yea.

Its lost its novelty, its old and boring. Big ancient churches everywhere that nobody cares about. Its just a tradition more than anything else, you go to church for 3 things: A baby getting born, a wedding or a funeral.

It's not just the U.K.that's ok with whatever religion our lack thereof you have... practically all European countries are like that, even the traditional Catholic ones in the south.
The younger generations are, for the most part, not caring one yota for religion and are becoming irreligious. There aren't enough priests for the churches and some are starting to look abandoned...
In the meantime, people below 40 are, at least, ok with other's lack of belief.

yeah, exactly.
this is why atheism is misunderstood. people, mainly religious people ...think it's about living an immoral 'do whatever you like' lifestyle. atheists have a more secure moral compass than most christians. and they live rightly because it's the right thing to do, not because they're afraid of burning for all eternity in hell. oh snap.

The 'irreligiosity' we (the young) have is probably one of the biggest achievements of the most recent generations.

It can be, I can speak for other parts but in the south its not nearly as bad as the stereotype.

It's good to be reminded how lucky I am to live somewhere where it really doesn't matter. Even if we do have bad weather, curvy roads and tiny cars. Smile
