when john has his first sight of god in glory, he sees "four living creatures full of eyes" surrounding his throne. between them, the quartet symbolize the greater part of gods creation: one is like a lion, representing carnivores< another an ox for the herbivores. the third has the face of a man, indicating the human presence, while the fourth, an eagle, stands for the birds of the air. the eyes apparently indicate perpetual watchfulness.

MY point was only there is a similarity with some of Ezekiel, C6thBCE. IE that Revelations is derivative of much earlier writings. I guess I could have been more explicit.

Inaugural vision (Ezekiel 1:1–3:27)- The first chapter of the Book of Ezekiel begins with Ezekiel's record of his vision of God's spectacular chariot (see Merkabah).[4] In this vision, God approaches Ezekiel as a divine warrior, riding in his battle chariot. This chariot appeared to be drawn by four living creatures each having four faces (of a man, a lion, an ox, and an eagle), and four wings. These living creatures are traditionally known as the fixed signs of the astrology zodiac, namly Aquarius (the man), Leo (the lion), Taurus (the ox), and Scorpio (the eagle is the second symbol of the Scorpio sign)

You all need to remember that the New Testament borrowed heavily from the Old Testament. The so called Revelations were nothing more than plagiarized Jewish myths like the rest of the N.T. Most biblical scholars like to combine the book of Daniel with Revelations since many of their prophecies and visions are very similar.

I like to compare the book of Revelations to the works of Nostradamus, since the so called prophecies are so vague they can be conformed to pretty much fit any event from the future. As far as the book of Revelations being a work of great literature I would have to agree with most of my fellow atheists that it is nothing more than the apparent ramblings of a man on a drug induced trip.

Ok so LSD doses do not taste sweet to the tongue but at worst you will taste a little metalic twinge then nothing but I have known friends to get stomach aches. Rumor has it that strychnine is the culprit but from what I understand you only find strychnine in bulk substrates like micro-dots, capsules, or any other insuflated method of delivery.

Revelation 10:9 - So I went to the angel and asked him to give me the little scroll. He said to me, "Take it and eat it. It will turn your stomach sour, but in your mouth it will be as sweet as honey."

Obviously the, "little scroll" (little piece of paper) had something to do with the writing of revelations...

Drugs are bad for you and should be avoided (I mean that, it is a recent revelation). Maybe Peyote tastes sweet, I believe it does sour the stomach if you haven't cleared out your system through fasting or at least abstaintion from aged proteins. I heard that the little hairs outside the buttons contain strychnine and can cause nausea. I once heard a story about a man who shoved the buttons (about six of them at a time, talk about weird anal beads) up his ass one day before his trip. I would have gone with a potato peeler. *large grin*

I get stomach aches from Liquid too, which lacks the bitter taste, though usually not as bad. I am convinced however that there is nothing actually happening in the stomach to warrant the discomfort (much like the "do I need to pee?" effect), rather it is a side effect from LSD lacking "Clarity", which is apparently a disproportionate release of serotonin/dopamine causing a similar physiological response to vertigo or sea sickness, but I can't verify that.
