Can someone help me?

RE: Can someone help me?
Incorrect. Christian values inspired Wilberforce to be a driving force in the anti slavery movement and rile against the zeitgeist. Likewise there are example of Christians acting subversively against the Nazis.

That might actually be the most relevant reply, though. If the best argument they can make is that they're only slightly better than the worst murdering scum in history, it doesn't really say much for the transformative power of truth or light or spirituality or whatever it is they're peddling.
"Well, evolution is a theory. It is also a fact. And facts and theories are different things, not rungs in a hierarchy of increasing certainty. Facts are the world's data. Theories are structures of ideas that explain and interpret facts. Facts don't go away when scientists debate rival theories to explain them. Einstein's theory of gravitation replaced Newton's in this century, but apples didn't suspend themselves in midair, pending the outcome. And humans evolved from ape- like ancestors whether they did so by Darwin's proposed mechanism or by some other yet to be discovered."

True, but you miss the point completely. What do you deem incorrect? The point was not that it is impossible to be Christian and do the right thing, or that Christianity can't inspire also good things.
But millions others of the same religion didn't care squat about the issues, and that one guy did. What does that tell us about the religion - and what about the man?
The fool hath said in his heart, There is a God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good.

It tells us that the religion is ineffective. I have no delusions that a very small minority in so called religious times paid more than lip service to it. People are sheep, and that's the problem. People are selfish and greedy, and serve themselves. This is the truth that religions confront. People are the problem, and not the religions.

Xtian values inspired Jefferson Davis, too.

Quote: "My own convictions as to negro slavery are strong. It has its evils and abuses...We recognize the negro as God and God's Book and God's Laws, in nature, tell us to recognize him - our inferior, fitted expressly for servitude...You cannot transform the negro into anything one-tenth as useful or as good as what slavery enables them to be."
~Jefferson Davis

That xtian shit is adaptable, isn't it?

But Wilberforce was swimming against the tide not partying in it.

Just because people use christian values to do good does that condones all the people who uses christian values to do bad?

Because I'm gonna quote Hitchens os this one.

Name me an ethical statement made or an action performed by a believer that could not have been made or performed by a non-believer.
And now name a a cruel and vicious action performed by a believer that could not have been made or performed by a non-believer.
