Russel Brand to be included in A level syllabus
I really think this guy is an idiot, is there something I'm missing ?

To me, he looks and sounds like some hemp smoking hippy that is famous for being famous.

I am not sure on his view on drugs, or any of his views on anything, as I try to avoid this guy no matter the forum, but, his advice given to MPs on drugs policy is going to be added to the English A level syllabus next year.

What are your opinions on the guy ?

Did I have him pegged all wrong and he is a closet genius, or should we be very afraid that he has any input at any government level and even more afraid he is soon to be shaping young minds in the classroom ?

Well...perhaps you should go read up on him since you say you don't know his views.

I am going to, it doesn't hurt to hear the opinions of my peers on him either.

To be honest the only things I remember him for is for being "that rich quirky British guy in like eight movies. Not exactly sure what qualifies him to give official advice, but who knows he might have good ideas.

I used to find the man very irritating, but I've recently changed my mind. He's a very intelligent guy, while you may not agree with all of his views, he is at least entertaining and who can't like a guy who makes a complete idiot of fox news?

I quite enjoyed this little tete a tete with a Fox presenter, if you have the time, watch the retort from Fox and then brands reply:

I like Brand in so far as he's able to make fundies look like idiots.

I very much dislike him in so far as his recent talks on political aspiration and involvement/disenchantment advocate a complete dismissal of (any) political system. "don't bother voting, what's the point?" was his recent attitude towards democratic systems. I'm sure the folks in Hong Kong disagree.

Hi Fidel, I totally agree regarding his interview with Paxman. I actually found myself agreeing with 80% of what he said, right up until the point he spouted that line, but you don't have to agree with everything he says. The one thing he is trying to do, at least, is to get people, younger people especially, involved and interested in the political process.

Got to admire a guy who was once a drug addicted homeless person, but is now in a position to be able to get over 3m views on a youtube video on a subject that most of us can agree isn't the stuff of youtube sensations.

I don't agree with all of his views, but I admire the fact that he cares enough to try and get them out there to at least encourage some debate.
