Nice. Let's hope it's anchored well enough that it doesn't get bounced off into space.

Now: Philae separation from Rosetta, waiting for confirmation

Can I get an amen?
I'm not anti-Christian. I'm anti-stupid.
Quite the accomplishment.
Science is awesome. Playing Cluedo with my mum while I was at Uni: "You did WHAT? With WHO? WHERE???"
They're still not sure, it's anchored. Still waiting for the first pictures from the surface.
They need to coat the lander's legs with super glue!

Never underestimate the power of very stupid people in large groups Arguing with an engineer is like wrestling with a pig in mud ..... after a while you realise that the pig likes it!
Well, tip of the hat to Europe and let's throw in India as well for their successful Mars mission which also didn't get much coverage in the American media.
http://money.cnn.com/2014/09/25/news/india-mars-cost/index.html Quote:India's $74 million Mars mission cost less than 'Gravity' movie Meanwhile, we outsource and watch rockets blow up. Clearly, if science is to advance the US is not going to lead the way. Too busy giving tax breaks to billionaires.
And here's why.
http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2014/11/anti-...ts-funded/ Quote:Anti-science Republicans want politics, not experts, to determine how research gets funded Quote:Congressional Republicans are targeting specific researchers and the grants that fund their work in a politically motivated attempt to stifle scientific inquiry. A Texan chairing the Science Committee. The mind boggles. Does he want to study how to build arks? RE: Now: Philae separation from Rosetta, waiting for confirmation

Seems their ideal society is one of gun slinging, bible thumping imbeciles. Sounds logical, they don't talk back when you screw them over with the help of your corporate cronies.
Yup.
It landed, then bounced.. in the air (vacuum?) for 2 hours, landed, bounced again then landed again. It is in the shadow of a rock so not enough light is falling on the solar panels, when the battery dies that's it. The pictures show what looks like rock rather than snow, if it had been snow it wouldn't have bounced so high.
