What I wonder here is how come she teaching the kids something she has no trust in. Obviously if she's afraid of you questioning it then she can't think it is a strong position.

You don´t own kids and if you witness parents mistreating their children there is a moral obligation to intervene as the circumstances allow (You might not want to shout at her, talk to the children behind her back, or anything of such sort.). Now whether one should consider raising kids in a religion "mistreating" them or not, is up to debate. To my mind, yes.
