Condemned at the UN for rights abuses, North Korea hit back Friday, describing the United States as a human rights “tundra” where racial discrimination flourishes.

Citing the protests that erupted when a police officer was not charged in the shooting death of an unarmed black teenager in Ferguson, Missouri, a foreign ministry spokesman heaped scorn on the notion of “rule of law” in the US.

“This is clear proof of the real picture of the US as a tundra of human rights, where extreme racial discrimination acts are openly practised,” the spokesman was quoted as saying by the North’s official KCNA news agency.

That's pretty sad, when a dictatorship is scoffing at us. You'd think we'd be past racism, and on to other things, but while we're fighting for LGBT rights, we're still fighting against white on black racism. We've gone from a representative republic to an oligarchy. We are not the paragon of freedom and equality that we should be.

I think I'd rather be shot than get worked to death in a camp in the back end of nowhere. North Korea pointing their blood soaked fingers at us doesn't really faze me.

Of course it's completely hypocritical, as the north corean state philosophy is quite racist to begin with.

I feel we're kind of in the middle as a country. With a lot of the places I could have been born, I'm pretty okay with being born here. I think it's a bit unfair to also be compared with countries a fraction the size of ours that barely have to deal with any diversity. Though it's still no excuse for sloppiness.
