Do some google searches and you should be able to find stuff about the organization's past that will send them screaming from your door. The organization conditions members to avoid any mention of information critical of it; and I mean that they are to treat it like radioactive waste. Especially any mention of Raymond Franz, who had become a member of their governing body in the 70s and wound up writing a book that reads like an expose of the Watchtower Society.
"Well, evolution is a theory. It is also a fact. And facts and theories are different things, not rungs in a hierarchy of increasing certainty. Facts are the world's data. Theories are structures of ideas that explain and interpret facts. Facts don't go away when scientists debate rival theories to explain them. Einstein's theory of gravitation replaced Newton's in this century, but apples didn't suspend themselves in midair, pending the outcome. And humans evolved from ape- like ancestors whether they did so by Darwin's proposed mechanism or by some other yet to be discovered."

Franz' book is Crisis of Conscience, if I recall correctly. One of the people mentioned in the book (actually the recipient of a letter that is reproduced in it) is a fellow I have known for almost all of my life. I got a chuckle out of seeing it, but was not surprised.

Had a couple of Brits once try to hand me one of those fake banknotes with a ridiculous Christian message on it.

I told them to give real money to charity if they want to actually help people.

Have you had any stealth evangelist experiences or did you engage in any when you were a Christian?

I used to have a roommate in college who was Wiccan. She got one of those for a tip one time, too.

The title of this thread cracks me up Smile I imagine agent 47 creeping up on someone, and forcing them to believe at gunpoint.

I waited tables for years, some of them in Tennessee. I got a fuck ton of chick tracts, fake bills with bible verses, prayers written out on napkins... people who left that type of thing rarely left a cash tip. Really? They thought THAT would convert me?

RE: Stealth Evangelism
Wait, people can be stealth about their advertising? Ok, to be serious I have never encountered anyone that was stealth about it. I live in an area where there is a lot of churches (of different denominations even) and typically what I notice is that at the plaza (where all of the buses go) there is usually someone at least once every week, and if not one every other week, literally shoving a pamphlet into your face trying to make you take it. I sometimes take it just because I want something to make in fun of and entertain me for a moment, and usually the back of it says its from one of the baptist churches... There is a reason why I only like churches for their architecture (some of the churches here are pretty old, they look kinda cool, never would check them out on a sunday though).
