I just realized your signature is in general false. If you calculate the average stupidity, if the distribution of stupidity is not symmetric, it's not half that are stupider.
Imagine a scenario where 99% are damn stupid and 1% really smart. In that case, 99% are stupider than average.

True.. true.... And here's an example of such a skewed distribution... the Boltzmann distribution:

However, most statistics assume a gaussian distribution which presents the same number of elements at either side of the average value... and this average value is also the most probable.

Which distribution best represents the human IQ level?...hmmm google...
It seems pretty much gaussian:

I think I've read though that IQ tests are designed such that the result is a Gaussian...

p.s. that black/white distribution is such a crass thing. It has to be wrong in some sense, or cultural, there just are no such
systematic genetic differences in intellect, every geneticist will tell you that the variation between individuals of each group is so
much larger than the genetic differences between groups, and what these graphs show is a more than 1 sigma difference...

Indeed... if they are made to be gaussian, then half the people will be below the average.

Concerning the differences between genders or races, or whatever... I didn't make the graphs, actually, each image is a link to where I found them, so you can go there and check their results. I put them up as illustration of the gaussian nature of the distribution of human IQ.
