(pew pew).

I'm curious as well. Poking around for an answer, came across this video:

It's the first of the four videos in the playlist. The mount could stand to be quicker, I bet.

I was being a little snarky earlier, but the laser is far more 'green' than most other weapons.

Not shrapnel or nitrates. No DU. High tech alloys with 'weird' trace constituents aren't delivered to the target. A very high percentage of the energy utilized by the device is delivered to the target. No nanoparticles are delivered by the beam. I'm not sure if it is practical to use the laser to clear vegetation, but if it is, there would be no agent orange involved.

It really is a very enviro-friendly device.

Whatever waste stream is generated in building the laser is amortized over numerous targets because it is reusable. I'm pretty impressed. An automated sentry device, (if allowed by treaty) would obviate the persistent hazard of landmines, it might be approved just because of that characteristic.

Weirdly though, death would be instantaneous, and seemingly more humane than most firearms . . . .

There's enthusiasm. There's something absolutely beautiful about human innards exploding everywhere in a great 'splurt' of blood. It'd be a hard job indeed for the squeamish... but there's fun in it too.

Lasers are just another 'terrifyingly inhumane weapon' that accomplishes the same net goal of 'kills people'. Really, bicycles should be on that list if it is to actually mean anything.

They really don't. This place is ripe pickings, summer... sheeple asking for wolf government.

It's madness. Delicious madness.

(I'm assuming the pickings were slim)

The chickens are good and fat, and there are plenty of them... they wouldn't even notice if half of them went missing in a night. It's easy... Minecraft easy.

This right here. Our government tortures people, and sends drone strikes to countries we aren't officially at war with. It can't be trusted with laser weapons.

FTFY.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

The Geneva agreements are - and always have been - honoured more in the breach than in the observance. The ink was barely dry on the 1906 version when the Germans were bitching about the western powers using shotguns in trench warfare, while waving their own saw-toothed bayonets about.

Ignore the Geneva protocols. Everyone does.
