Pretty!
I assume brightness and temperature changes on earth are not shown ![]()

In a couple of instances we'd be fried.

Oops, screwed. Polaris, Vega and Sirius are all relatively young, short libed, very luminous stars. Screwed. If they were in our solar system, they'd be red giants or white dwarfs by now (I can't recall off the top of my head if Polaris is massive enough to go supernova). Alpha Centauri is the best case scenario, and it's a triple star, the larger two are 1.5 and .5 the luminosity of the sun. If earth orbits the larger, scorched. If it orbits the smaller, frozen. All assuming an orbital distance of 1AU.
Perfect example of intelligent design. Any other sun then the majik of dust man and rib woman could not exist.
I'm a bit confused about their rendition of Alpha Centauri. Are the two bright stars supposed to be Alpha Centauri A and B, and the dim one Proxima Centauri? That doesn't seem to make any sense considering that A and B have a distance of more than 10 AU, and Proxima Centauri to the others a distance of thousands of AUs. Wouldn't one star, A or B, be really big, the other noticeably dimmer and smaller, and Proxima almost invisible in broad daylight?

Not only that, but Proxima is a low luminosity red dwarf, and so at a distance of 13000 AU would be quite dim, certainly not the color it's rendered as in the image - I don't think it likely it would be visible at all during the night, and not very bright at night. We're talking about a star which emits about 0.0056% of the visible light compared to our Sun.
I'm pretty sure we would have a bad time with a blue sun because it burns brighter uses fuel fairly quickly more than our sun.. and the radiation and skin cancer we would get...
not to mention the life of the sun would be relatively short.
