Improperly securing his weapon is no accident, just plain stupidity. I have been handling guns for 50 years and never had an accident or even a close call. I took a hunter safety class when I was 12. It was not the last safety class either.

Okay - stupidity happens. When it happens with a gun it can be very dangerous.
And with cars. Actually, more people are injured and killed from automobiles. Responsibility is the real problem and there are a bunch of irresponsible people in this world. Unfortunately, there is no law against it, only against the outcomes.

Yes, but drivers are licensed and in every state must have insurance to protect others from their car-related fuck ups. I could live with mandatory insurance and licensing for gun nuts.
