Same thing they say to theists, PROVE IT. And every single one of those scientists you find credible will also tell you it is not up to them to do your homework.
Even at their level in a lab they are still having competing ideas. Inspiration alone is not enough. Depicting something alone is not enough.

I never claimed anything else. You are the one who has seemingly been claiming that fiction of any sort ever makes any reality claims.

Si fi is not the only source of inspiration humans get their ideas from. No shit, chucklefuck. There are a lot of stupid people in the world. You seem to be among them if you honestly believe that fiction is a problem because someone might take it seriously.

You seem to have a real problem differentiating reality from fiction. I am making no claims about reality when I write a story that includes a hover car, or a blaster, or a starship, or a fucking "intergalactic gerbil wheel star drive." I don't have to fucking prove anything about these things, because they're not fucking real and I am not claiming they are.
You, on the other hand, seem to want verification of every idea that every writer ever comes up with. I'd suggest you stick to non-fiction (but none that is in the least bit speculative like Dr. Kaku or Dr. Krauss) and leave imagination to the people with intellects flexible enough to handle it without thinking there needs to be proof for every single detail of the story.

Look, chucklefuck, I agree that you have to test claims in the real fucking world. Science fiction doesn't deal in REALITY and doesn't fucking claim to! How can you keep missing that point, over and over, like a willfully ignorant faither?
Sure, some fucktard can come along and start a Jedi Order religion (real, no shit). They can also come along and start claiming they are actually werewolves or vampires (also real, no shit). Some people are just fucking stupid.
Again, I'm going to ask, what would you have us do about it?

I'm left wondering which sci-fi made any claim about reality at all.
In bold black letters you said "Science fiction doesn't deal in reality"
I AGREE, so fight with yourself.
Or accept that mere inspiration isn't enough and stop stupidly thinking Si Fi is the only place people get ideas from.

If Brian37 isn't a theist, he's the perfect example for theists who say all atheists are the same. Because he's not reading anything anyone's actually saying.
The truth is absolute. Life forms are specks of specks (...) of specks of dust in the universe.
Why settle for normal, when you can be so much more? Why settle for something, when you can have everything?

Atheism is not the issue so don't go there, this is about science, not you not me.
Did you or did you not say "Science fiction does not deal in reality?"
I'LL be happy to quote you again.
Now as I have said it is used to depict "possibilities" and statements on human morality. But that is not the only place people find inspiration nor is it the only place people make claims or get ideas from.
It still does not get a pass nor is it the only place people get ideas or inspiration from.

The issue is you, actually. This reply (yours) proves my point quite nicely.

Look, chucklefuck. I never claimed that science fiction is the only place people get ideas. I have only claimed that science fiction doesn't make claims about reality and that only stupid fucking people think it does. You seem to think it does. I'm sure you can see the logical conclusion to be drawn there.
I'm reminded of the time at AF.com that you argued vehemently that folding pizza boxes was a marketable skill. Once again you have latched on to a fucking ridiculous claim, refuse to show any evidence for it and constantly shift the goalposts in a vain attempt to look anything other than utterly ridiculous.

Prove to me now no one has ever found inspiration from holy books. Prove to me right now science fiction is the only place source people make claims from.
And please prove that knowing you said "Science fiction doesn't deal in reality".
You are still getting pissy with me because all I said was "no one gets a pass" and stupidly think that is a call to ban it. You can claim you are Napoleon till you are blue in the face it still does not make it true.
There is a famous black and white film made I think during the silent movie era of a rocket landing on the moon. Rockets did exist in reality but even scientists who considered that it would happen at some point, still were not living in the future, someone still had to go beyond merely depicting it in a SI FI movie and act on it.
Otherwise the bible is true because every Easter some TV network has a movie depicting Jesus. Christians are inspired by those stories too.
Si fi is not the only place people get inspired. Si fi is not the only act of communication where claims are made. You cannot give anything special treatment .

SciFi is a source of entertainment, and some good ones do make us stop and think about stuff.... so what's your problem? Why are you claiming that SciFi is claiming to be reality?
If you are worried about being conned, then yes scientists and skeptics can be conned as well. No one has knowledge about everything nor can we test each and everything we encounter in our day to day lives. Having a skeptic and rational mind is good but going overboard with it is not.

You, however, specifically called out science fiction in the title of your own thread.
