Wearing a crucifix

I'm also curious how wearing a crucifix is 'fashionable'. Seems like a silly fashion choice to me, perhaps one made out of ignorance of the issues that exist with religion and their impact on society.

Have you never seen people who wear crucifixes who aren't specifically believers? It's no different from people who wear Stars of David coz they look cool or pagan crosses ... maybe it's a Brit thing but OF COURSE it can be a fashion accessory. Add to that there's a whole rapper culture where stars/fans vie with each other to wear the biggest, most "bling" crucifix they can ... if that's not a fashion statement I'm a cheese muffin.

I have two crosses- both fashion jewellery. I don't wear them for religious reasons. Would someone wear a trinket fashioned as a gun, to commemorate how someone they lost was killed? I don't think so..........Then again, maybe I shouldn't wear crosses at all seeing as I know how it may be misconstrued........?

My mother was saying on a radio program they had said that if Jesus was put to death to day that it would be in an electric chair....
so would that mean everybody would wear electric charis around their neck?
Mum thought that would look weird.. I couldn't help but agree.

My housemate wears an anti-christ pendant around his neck.. I've never really understood fully what it means.. but I can't help that I seem to want one aswell to look 'cool'

That doesn't make me a devil worshiper!
Unless enjoying a song about Satan thats called SATAN and finding it really cool counts as worshipping a non-existent deity? That happens to be evil (if it existed).

In a sense it kinda makes that same, "I'm a rebel" statement I've always made.

Haha......That sort of "I'm a rebel" thing always makes me laugh.

For example the current "goth" fashion and when goth is interviewed "We just want to express our individualness.". And I'm not singling them out, all "fasionable" groups are the same.

Haha.. you should see my housemate.. he is a crazy goth.. he does his on moehawk, wear strange mouth/claw jewls, wears weird blue eye contact lenses etc.. then again he is a gay guy that was brought up in a jehovah's witness family.. he has currently been expelled and has no contact with them any more =/ the poor guy... i can't help but want to give a big hug.

A friend of my parents said he went to a goth party wearing an ALL yellow fluro outfit. Haha.

I used to wear a cross, even after being an atheist. I think they can be pretty. But I liked this particular cross I had because it reminded me of the cross Angel gave to Buffy in Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Yes, I'm a dork.

The crucifix looks cool in the same way the swastika looks cool. In certain cultures they can mean an abundance of things, but here they just dish out too much psychological trauma for me to bother with. I wouldn't wear them in this culture, but saying that I've never been one for pendants, necklaces, bracelets, rings, piercings or any other weird fashion accessories.

The swastika was originally ancient indian or egyptian or something wasn't it? And it was meant to be peaceful? And hitler stole it for himself and now its a symbol of evil. Something like that?
Or is that a myth? That's what I've heard.
