What's your broadband speed?

I'm assuming this is good then? If you're not supposed to ride faster than your guardian angel can fly then mine had better get a bloody SR-71.
You people don't know what high ping is.

Mine is in a cable bundle but it works out to about $60 for 30 down / 5 up, which is what I usually get - perhaps a little slower during primetime. By comparison - I have a self-administered dedicated server in Europe with 100 up / 100 down that I pay 48 euros (65usd) per month to rent. It is really weird, though. During the weekdays, my ping is very low, in the manageable hundreds, usually less than 500. At night and on the weekends, it suddenly spikes between 4-8k and sometimes even to 10-20k.
Why is it perfectly fine during the day and then horrible the rest of the time?

What kind of sustained bandwidth can you push across the pond, CD?

I'd guess they have both a crappy wireless network and a crappy uplink that gets hosed when people actually use it. During prime time, it's usually not better than 10mb, sometimes as low as 5mb. I really only back haul data across the transatlantic fiber at night. |
