Welcome.

There are many former theists here who can tell you their story and give advice.

My good Christian friends suddenly didn't want my tainted life corrupting theirs. I got angry, I went through a lot for a few years and I knew I had misplaced my faith. Even though I had come to accept there was no God, I had been living that life for so long I felt guilty saying it or thinking it for some time. It's still hard now, not because I have a problem with it or think there could be a God, but because it seems most people do believe and the minute you mention atheism, they want to convince you there is a God and of how wrong you are. Hey there, nice to meet you Smile

I'm sorry for what your husband did to you, and how you were treated after that. How disgusting of the lot of them Sad

Well done on coming through to team sanity! I hope you stick around.

Hello and welcome!

Your Christian ex-friends sound like jerks.  They blame you for what your husband does?  He sounds like a jerk, too.  I hope your life has been improved with the loss of jerks around you.

hi!
Much improved thank you Smile I try not to judge them too harshly, I fell into a very deep depression and I don't know how many people are equipped to handle that situation. However, I did come to some eye opening revelations during that time. It sucked but I learned which is the important part of the experience.

RE: hi!
A good exercise is to first understand to yourself why you dont believe in religion, be specific to yourself on what you believe and stay true to it.

I know what its like i was raised in the bible belt myself, into Baptist territory no less and i find atheism more logical and quite better at conversation. But remember that it is always your choice that will matter most. And there are plenty here willing to help you
