jesus Borgia?
Interesting article.

http://www.rawstory.com/2015/03/how-did-...he-savior/

Quote:It wasn’t until the early Middle Ages that Christian iconography converged on the bearded, mature Jesus familiar today. Around the same time, writers and artists sought to show that Jesus had outward beauty and stature to match his spiritual beauty and Divine origins. Forged writings and fake artifacts have been common throughout Christian history—from the New Testament books written in the name of Paul to modern manuscript fragments hinting at the marital status or sexuality of Jesus—and in the Middle Ages, forged relics helped to create the modern image of Jesus.

The advantage of a fictional character is that it can be made to look like anything you wish.

I like that quote from Isaiah and what the early writers had to say about jesus looking unattractive. Seems right that jesus would look like dogshit; he would take after his father's personality.

It was interesting also that the early Christians didn't want to depict Jesus. Those first Christians would probably be shocked that modern American Jesus is white and has the abs of an action figure.

From a quick search, I did not find the image to which the article referred, but I found this:

The depictions of Jesus as a tall white guy are absurd.  If he looked like that, people would have commented on it at the time, as it would have been striking and unusual.

The wikipedia article is interesting on the subject of the appearance of Jesus:

There would also be no need for Judas to kiss Jesus in the garden so that the soldiers could tell him apart from his followers
