My youngest brother lives near there.  Are you a long time Californian?  As a navy brat, I could have been born in a number of places but was born in Oakland.  My just younger brother was born in Maryland and my other younger siblings were born in San Diego.  Not sure where my older brother was born, probably bay area too.

So have you told your de-conversion story here yet?  Or were you one of those whose parents (or earlier) did the heavy lifting?

I've lived in CA for 10 years.  I lived in Oakland--in Jack London--where the lofts are.  I come from a religious family; I am really the only one that started to see the glaring holes in the religious way of thinking.  I also tried talking to my pastor about things and he was less than helpful and actually got angry with me when I started questioning anything.  I knew I wasn't going to find answers that way, so I started looking for them on my own.  The more I learned, the less I believed.

Well congratulations on the getaway.  We don't exactly live in a loft but we do live in an old warehouse.  Small one though, just 40 by 80 feet.  Fortunately there is a lot of open ground around it so that I can make a garden.

Thanks  Yeah, i can't cook for anything, but I am trying--so that's something lol.  I loved living in a loft and I think the old warehouses that were converted into living space are very cool.  Love the Berkeley Bowl, btw...
