Another conservative beacon seems to be involved in child abuse.

Quote:Kent police said it had received a new allegation against Heath on Tuesday. A statement said: “Kent police has today received a report of a sexual assault having been committed in east Kent in the 1960s. The victim has named Sir Edward Heath in connection with the allegation. Detectives are making initial inquiries and will obtain a full account from the victim.”

I had to look him up -- I'd thought he was the "Mr Heath" mentioned in "Taxman" from the Beatles, and that seems to be the case.

But I don't think I'll look at "conservative beacons" differently because one was involved in an alleged assault.

Interesting that people label a person when mentioning something they did wrong in hopes to apply the label itself as inherently wrong. Instead of conservative beacon why not say elderly white man? How about simply call the act what it is and leave any other details about race, politics, gender, religion, etc out of it?

Conservative beacon is of importance because of the incessant moralizing of conservatives.

Exactly. And it's of importance that this man was at the helm of the UK. Where he made a first attempt at breaking the Unions. So he's not Joe Ordinary, the lorry driver.

If that is the case than those moralizing the label are just as guilty. You just cannot apply behavior broadly whether good or bad. People are individuals.

The ones doing the political moralizing are rightfully expected to have a higher standard. Same goes for the infamous Jimmy Savile. Looking at the story it is important to know who he was, what influence he had and about his network of connections. That only made it possible that he could commit child abuse on such a large scale for decades.

The act in itself is as despicable wether it's committed by a father on his children or a public figure. But if the public figure was a role model of any kind, it's important to point that out.
