I prefer games where each area has its level, and only major game events (say another nuclear attack in this case) reset the areas and give fresh, harder levels.
Take her from inside the castle hallways. Hide there, take your shots and hide again. You're avoiding the acid almost completely. The only pain are the hatchlings attacking you constantly. I killed her twice with only a combat rifle to rely on. Level 12 seems about the same level I had at that time, but it's a sure losing game to take her on out in the open.

So, I've finally done the trick where you can basically grow your own adhesives by growing mutfruit, corn, and tatos and then turning them into vegetable starch using a purified water. It works like a charm and loads you up with adhesive, but it does take out the special "aw yeah" feeling you get when you stumble upon some duct tape.

You may or may not have discovered another: Your chemistry workbench can be used to make cutting oil, which can be broken down into oil.
Unfortunately, one of the required ingredients is bone, and I've found very little of it in-game.

I did not know about that one. Oil is another bitch to collect, so that would be nice to have.
The only place I've noticed plenty of bone is when you find a nest of Super Mutants. They seem to leave lots of corpses lying around.

Yeah, the thing is it takes 8 bone to complete the recipe. I haven't found reliable sources so the recipe just supplements what I'm able scrounge and the shipments I buy from vendors.

Fight supermutants and mole rats and you're swimming in boones. The mole rat teeth count as bones.

Check out this video where this guy built an AT-AT Walker in a settlement. I'm guessing he cheated and gave himself materials with console commands, but it's still impressive.

Wow. I wouldn't even know where to begin with that shit. I am just trying to level up and get to where I can adequately mod a weapon/armor.
I'm level 37 or 38, and I the best armor I'm finding is combat armor with like 25-35 damage resistance.

I died sooooooooooo many times on her. Like 5 or 10, maybe. Finally, I figured it out-- run completely around the outside of the castle, take one missile shot, eat acid, fully heal while running to another entrace, take one missile shot (using VATS!), eat acid, etc.

Has to be cheating because of the object placement limit. No way the vanilla games allows for a structure like that.
