I'm Adam, 22 from the Wirral, UK.
I've been an Atheist for most of my life, I was christened but as a bright child I quickly worked out the illogic of religions, which I have studied to check validity, and since I am here you can see what conclusions I had drawn. I have a young son called Aidan and I hope he won't grow up believing in nonsense, I won't have it!

My personal positions on controversial issues;

*Abortion makes sense especially in cases of rape, or the parents being unable to provide for the child in this rediculously overpopulated world.
*Capitalism is wrong, material items won't make you happy, consumerism simply makes the word a far worse place for you're descendants.
*Climate change is happening and Humans are responsible for accelerating the warming during the worlds ice age defrosting.
*Evolution is a fact and all life is related.
*Fossil and plant-bio fuels shouldn't be used at all, if stopped one day there would be chaos, but eventually we'd come to live in a better world, a greener world, there's more than enough geo-thermal, hydro, solar and wind power to go around. People in the developed world myself included waste far too much power as it is, we got on just fine historically without electricity, imagine if we'd skipped right over fossil to renewables!
I see fossil fuels as a fat reserve for the planet, only when going into a cooling stage should we burn them to keep temperature up.
*Gay/Lesbian marriage is fine by me.
*Racism makes no sense.
*Religion creates evil
*We are atleast part responsible for a mass extinction happening now.

Reduce Human population.
Save the Rainforests.
Colonise the Universe.

I don't eat chocolate because in it's creation, it is metaphorically dripping with Orang Utan blood and is passed to you by the hands of slave children.


As you can see I'm outspoken, opinionated, arrogant, and sure of myself. Worthy of an Arrogant Atheist T-Shirt, but past that I try to be the best person I can be and not because some giant guy in sky told me to be

Capitalism is wrong, material items won't make you happy, consumerism simply makes the word a far worse place for you're descendants.

Capitalism has existed for thousands of years just fine. It's when governments seek to impose restrictions on the free market that we get into trouble. Capitalism is the only system based on fairness; i.e. you get money in proportion to the skill / amount of work you do.

Climate change is happening and Humans are responsible for accelerating the warming during the worlds ice age defrosting.

Yeah...sure...

Fossil and plant-bio fuels shouldn't be used at all, if stopped one day there would be chaos, but eventually we'd come to live in a better world, a greener world, there's more than enough geo-thermal, hydro, solar and wind power to go around. We got on fine without electricity, but with electricity we got on much better. Advances in technology lead to advances in practically every aspect of life, from growing more food to feed the population, to hooking people up to machines that keep them alive and nurse them back to health.

Fossil fuels should be reduced, but until we find a viable energy source to replace them (fusion & nuclear power are the future) we can't just suddenly stop.

Gay/Lesbian marriage is fine by me.

All state-sponsored marriage is ridiculous (and meaningless) in my view. Let religion handle religion; let the state handle protecting civil rights and upholding the law.

It's overpopulated in the sense that we need 2 Earths to make Humanities current consumption sustainable, if we all had much less it'd be ok.

I believe it's based on greed, and while that is an effective motivation, it is not a moral one. I'm very Federation of Star Trek minded, for the good of the community.

I see marriage as a religious thing too but heteros having more human rights and benefits than gay people is wrong to me.

You didn't know we are living through a mass extinction event??

The chocolate thing relates to the fact that most cocoa is produced by slave children and palm oil is in most chocolate, it comes from malaysia and the rainforest which our ape cousins live s being destroyed to produce it.

We are totally responsible. Never have so many species been dying out so quickly over the past 150 years or so, not even during the mass extinction of the dinosaurs which took thousands of years.

Impossible as the Universe is far too large and hostile to biological life. But we could colonise bits of it starting with the solar system and then gradually moving out.

Darwinian, with abortion I'd like to see an inclusion of the father in the decision, infact past experience had me strongly for it, but recent experience with female friends and family has shown me that it isn't practical in all cases if any!

I doubt we'll ever know how much climate is us and how much nature but I do believe we are significant.

With the fossil fuel point, and the capitalist one too, I look at the Amish and see potential, they believe in hard work to benefit the whole community with money being no consideration, if you could take that model, strip away religion, and add education and advanced technology powered by strictly green energy, I'd be living there.

Extinction - Amphibians are suffering worse than any group of animals, largely due to humans, in early pregnancy tests we needed amphibians to use in tests and we used an African species of frog, it was that was carrying a deadly fungus, we spread it worldwide. I'm a bit of an amateur herpetologist, just an interest really, I keep axolotl, dwarf aquatic frogs and fire bellied newts. I also have pygmy chameleons and a terrapin.

The Universe is an ambitious statement as if there is no way around the light speed limit, we'd never get anywhere near far out enough before the estimated end of the universe be it crunch or rip, especially considering expansion.
What I mean is that we should be taking life and spreading it to where no life is, Mars is a first step, though not certain devoid of life, it is likely, anyway Stephen Hawking makes a better argument for colonising space than I ever could
