Of course. It is a religion, so what else is it supposed to be based on?
Well - ravings of a lunatic is also a popular choice, I suppose...

I mean at this point in time it should lose its religion status.

"Seriously, though, there are Mormon apologetics answers to almost all of this shit"

Well of course they have answers, it isn't like they are going to openly admit, "yeah you got us, it is all totally fabricated BS"...the fun part is how hollow their answers are. Empirical, archaeological, and DNA evidence always wins.  Tongue

I agree, but my point wasn't just that "yeah, they have apologetics" it's that truly committed members will believe in the face of hollow apologetics. To their credit, there are many who go to fairmormon and read what's there and realize the foundations of their church are not only built on sand but that sand is washing away, and in some areas it's completely gone. We call those people ex-Mormons. Angel

That episode and the Scientology episode are seriously fantastic. (And still the only two SP episodes I've ever seen in full... Big Grin)
Teenaged X-Files obsession + Bermuda Triangle episode + Self-led school research project = Atheist.

And this makes me all the sadder for my childhood friend who went off to join that cult because a hot girl was in it. He's still Mormon, married to someone completely different. A smart, affable dude, but apparently terrible at detecting bullshit.

absolutely, I got into a rather long winded debate with one of our mormon members at another atheist forum I usually lurk in and she used fair mormon propaganda a lot. I truly enjoyed dragging her around the schoolyard. In fact my OP on this thread was part of that information deluge I dumped upon her little head. Good times Smile

All religions are pure BS. Since Judaism and Christianity are BS how can Mormonism be any different when it has some of the same characters? That's also why Islam in complete BS. Belief in gods and religions is the most common mental illness. It's part of human nature.

Again - that's true of all religions...

Strongly recommended reading: Under the Banner of Heaven by John Krakauer. I was incredulous at every word.
